Invested in our Community / Headway Norfolk and Waveney
We are proud to be a long-term supporter of local charity Headway Norfolk & Waveney who carry out important support and rehabilitation work with the victims of strokes and brain injuries in the region. There are over 5,000 cases of acquired brain injury and stroke in our region every year.
The charity helps not only the victims themselves, but also their families and support network, offering a life line following initial medical treatment which includes supporting their adjustment, confidence and independence back in the community. Headway also have an important role in promoting understanding of all aspects of brain injury – where the resultant symptoms may often be hidden but can include complex long-term problems affecting personality, relationships and the ability to lead an independent life.
Our support includes helping to raise the profile of the charity and promote their fundraising efforts – particularly for their annual ‘Action for Brain Injury’ awareness raising week in May. Our Partner and Brain Injury Solicitor Colin Cook is also a board member for the charity.
Highlights have included:
Jarrold Fashion & Styling Event, May 2019. Guests invited by Headway Norfolk and Waveney, Hatch Brenner and Jarrold enjoyed a fun and glamourous evening at the Norwich Store which included a live beauty demonstration and fashion show with tips on how to style hats and accessories ready for those summer days out.
Hats for Headway Day. Our staff love to get involved in this annual fundraising day organised by Headway UK – wearing their hats to the office with pride to help raise awareness of the impact of Brain Injury and raise vital funds for the charity.
Norwich Beer Festival, October 2018. Headway Norfolk & Waveney were selected as the partner charity for the beer festival. Hatch Brenner staff helped with the fundraising efforts throughout the week-long event, which raised an incredible £11,000 for the charity.
Castle Mall takeover, May 2017 and 2018. We worked with Headway Norfolk & Waveney to takeover a shop unit with our friends at Castle Mall during ABI week. For both 2017 and 2018, we displayed paintings, drawings, sculpture and photographs which Headway clients had produced in their art therapy sessions in an impressive and thought-provoking exhibition. We also ran workshops for clients, their friends and family, colleagues and supporters. In 2018, the exhibition included five films local Headway Norfolk & Waveney clients had made about their experiences of having a brain injury, and their journey towards recovery.
Coming soon: We are very excited to be working with Headway clients in the design of our 2020 corporate Christmas card. We have issued a brief to the art therapy group, and look forward to seeing their designs!
