Invested in our Community / MAP Young People
MAP, the Mancroft Advice Project, is a Norwich city centre-based charity offering independent information, advice and advocacy, youth work, informal education and counselling for young people aged 11-25 years. Supporting over 4,000 young people across Norfolk every year, their focus includes those young people who may be disengaged from their local community, disadvantaged by their background or deemed to be at risk in their current circumstances.
We supported MAP as one of our key charity partners between 2017 – 2020, including providing legal advice to the charity itself, and to their advice workers who provide information directly to young people. Our joint projects during this time included:
Circle of Security Course creche provision, 2020. We were pleased to be able to support MAP by funding the provision of a creche for their young parenting course. By helping offer young people practical parenting support during what can be an extremely challenging time, MAP aim to prevent the development of additional challenges for both the young parents and their children. Many of the young people MAP work with have little to no support network, so the crèche is an extremely important factor – allowing them to fully engage with and benefit from the course, knowing that their children are being looked after by experienced, qualified staff.
The greatMAPwalk which took place over the course of the weekend of September 15th-16th 2018. Supporters were encouraged to take a walk over the weekend and pledge a donation to MAP.
Christmas Appeal, 2017. We produced our corporate Christmas card in conjunction with MAP for 2017, and included a postcard with each card sent giving more information about the services offered by MAP – helping to raise the profile of the charity’s work amongst our clients and contacts. Staff also elected to donate their ‘Secret Santa’ money to the charity.
Our ongoing relationship with MAP continues … Our Head of Private Client, Partner Caroline Billings is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the charity. Read more.
