Hatch Brenner Solicitors on Norwich’s Theatre Street welcomes a new Partner to the firm, specialist Family Law Solicitor, Amy Walpole, who will head the Family Law department. Amy joins the firm from Howes Percival in Norwich.
Amy advises in all areas of family law, specifically focusing on complex financial matters arising during a relationship breakdown. Specialising in family law for 20 years, Amy is described as “a fantastic combination of great judgment, attention to detail and excellent client care” in the Legal 500 2022 (the UK’s guide to leading law firms and lawyers).
Joining the firm in January 2022, Amy brings to the position extensive experience in divorce, separation, child-related matters, pre/post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation, civil partnerships, domestic violence, variation of orders, and child maintenance. Amy is a member of Resolution (a community of family justice professionals) and a trained collaborative lawyer.
The appointment of Amy Walpole as Partner and Head of Family Law at Hatch Brenner follows the recent expansion of the team with the arrival of senior family solicitor, Sophie Key (also previously of Howes Percival), in the autumn. Together they are described as “a powerhouse in their region, taking on the more complex and difficult cases” in the Legal 500 2022.
Commenting on the appointment, Dawn Parkes, Managing Partner and Private Client specialist at Hatch Brenner said: “We are delighted to welcome Amy Walpole as Partner and Head of Family Law at Hatch Brenner. It’s a great way to start the year, Amy’s arrival sees our family law department grow from strength to strength. A Legal 500 ‘leading lawyer’ and highly regarded in Norwich and beyond, Amy is a fantastic addition to the team”.
We are continuing to see a significant increase in demand for divorce and family law services in response to the lockdowns and ongoing pressures of the pandemic. Amy’s extensive expertise and fantastic reputation will ensure our clients continue to receive the highest support levels and advice”.
The introduction of ‘no-fault divorce’ will come into place on 6th April this year. The changes will enable couples to separate amicably, mitigating the need for one spouse to take legal blame for the breakup. The reform will reduce the potential for unwelcome dispute and end the needless ‘blame game’.
Amy Walpole commented, “Demand for family law services has seen a surge, and we expect this to increase when ‘no-fault divorces’ are introduced later this year. Joining Hatch Brenner as a partner and heading the Family Law team at this pivotal time of change is an ideal career step for me and I look forward to supporting and advising our clients. The firm has an excellent reputation, in a convenient central Norwich location, and I am thrilled to be joining the team”.
