IWD - a day that commemorates the social, political and economic achievements of women

For over a century, International Women’s Day, held on 8 March each year, has marked a day of celebration and advocacy for women’s rights and equality around the world. Norwich solicitors’ firm, Hatch Brenner, is using the day to celebrate the achievements of its 80% female workforce and build upon the progress that has been made for gender parity.

The official theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias. It’s a call to action to challenge the status quo by raising awareness against bias, celebrating women's achievement, and taking action for equality. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.

At Hatch Brenner Solicitors we have created a company and culture where we treat our work, clients and colleagues alike with integrity, respect and care. Diversity of thought, background and culture is not just accepted and encouraged, but expected. We have established an environment where everyone, no matter their seniority, experience or background is given exactly the same opportunity to contribute, progress and develop.

Two-thirds of Hatch Brenner partners are women – parallel to the national average which sees women make up only 33% of partners at law firms. Managing Partner, Dawn Parkes, has been at the helm since 2014.

“This is a day when we can reflect on the positive changes that have happened to create equality for women in the workplace and think about what more we can do. It’s also an opportunity to shine a light on the many inspirational stories and recognise the incredible achievements of women. At Hatch Brenner we empower our female colleagues, many are in leadership roles supporting the growth of their teams. We celebrate and reward strengths and achievements, whilst providing an inclusive and supportive environment.”

The firm is dedicated to supporting the personal and professional career development of women at all levels. Hatch Brenner encourages and champions the success and progression of colleagues with:

  • Training and CPD
  • Mentorship
  • Flexible working
  • Equal pay
  • A diverse management
  • Networking opportunities
