Trainee Solicitor | Commencing September 2024

Applications are open for a training contract.

The Role

Hatch Brenner LLP is currently looking to recruit a trainee solicitor to train across its Property, Family, Private Client and Dispute Resolution Departments. The role will involve legal support to senior lawyers across four ‘seats’ over the duration of the two year training contract and will develop in line with the SRA Principles and Practice Skills Standards.

You will have a strong academic record and/or relevant experiential learning. The work will involve both contentious and non-contentious law.

This Job Description provides an outline only and may be amended to take account of changes within the firm.

Objectives and expanded duties will be discussed and agreed at the performance review with the post-holder.

There will be a review every 6 months before moving to the next team/seat.

Responsibilities

  • Helping with draft agreements, enquiries, applications etc.
  • Participating in interviews at client meetings.
  • Performing legal research tasks.
  • Drafting letters.
  • Participating with, and working on, client files.
  • General administrative and legal support.
  • Participate in team meetings and attend networking events/get involved in business development.
  • Keep up to date with law and practice, attend internal courses, deliver training.
  • Complete the Professional Skills Course (PSC).
  • Any other duties within the scope and spirit of the post as required.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will be ambitious, enthusiastic and have a real passion for law.

  • Must have completed and passed  the Legal Practice Course.
  • Minimum  2:1 degree.
  • Work placement experience.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • IT Literate.

Private Family Law Solicitor/Legal Executive

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Private Family Solicitor or Legal Executive (up to 5 years PQE) to join the expanding and dynamic Family Department at Hatch Brenner Solicitors in Norwich city centre.

The Role

This exciting position will encompass a broad range of family matters including divorce, financial remedy, separation, civil partnership, children arrangements and private child law, pre-and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation disputes. In addition to this, you will be involved in co-working on complex and high-net-worth family matters.

In this full-time position, you will undertake Private Family law fee-earning work, working both independently and with the Team. You will also develop and maintain excellent relationships with Hatch Brenner’s current clients as well as contribute to business development and growing the Family law portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Acting for clients in divorce, financial remedy and private law Children Act cases
  • Winning new client business through referrals and business development activities
  • Responsible for a caseload of Private Family matters including:
  • Competent file management
  • Ability to manage client expectations
  • Effective credit control
  • Perform fee-earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the firm’s quality and risk management procedures (Lexcel)
  • Attendance at departmental meetings and firmwide networking events

Property Team | Legal Secretary

Join us at Hatch Brenner Solicitors as a Legal Secretary in our Property Department! We’re looking for an organised, detail-oriented individual with experience in conveyancing.

Your role will involve managing a range of secretarial and administrative tasks, including document creation and formatting, phone call management, supporting our fee earners and offering a high-quality service to our clients. You will be a proactive team player who can work independently and as part of a team.

Property Team | Paralegal

Hatch Brenner Solicitors has an opening for a proactive, confident, and structured individual to join our residential conveyancing team, as a Paralegal. In role, you will undertake routine conveyancing work, supporting our fee earners and eventually managing your own caseload. Responsibilities include providing quotations, undertaking necessary searches, liaising with estate agents, producing standard contract documentation, assisting with enquiries, dealing with completion and post-completion tasks.

You will also play a role in contributing to the department’s marketing efforts, helping to enhance the firm’s reputation and business. We’re looking for someone with a passion for excellence and a commitment to professional growth, who will help develop new business, maximise cross-referrals, and maintain financial control with a focus on cash flow and billing procedures.

Residential Conveyancing Solicitor/Legal Executive

We are currently looking to recruit a Residential Conveyancer to join our Conveyancing Team. As a progressive forward-thinking firm, we are looking for someone with some experience who is enthusiastic and wants to develop their career.

The ideal candidate will be qualified as a solicitor, legal executive or experienced conveyancing executive, with proven experience working in a busy Conveyancing team as a fee earner. You will be confident managing your own caseload, ensuring transactions proceed as smoothly and quickly as possible and offering a high-quality service to our clients.

Private Client Solicitor

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor 2yr PQE or a qualified legal executive with an ambition to work in our private client department. This full-time role will require undertaking fee-earning work, working both independently and as a member of the team, maintaining existing relations with the firm’s clients and assisting and helping develop new relationships with third-party referrers.

The Role

  • To undertake fee-earning work, working both independently and as a member of the team and providing a profitable contribution to the work of the department.
  • To maintain existing relations with the firm’s clients and assist and help develop new relationships with third-party referrers.
  • Conduct private client and related matters, on behalf of clients.
  • Drafting of Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and dealing with Trust and Estate Administration.
