The Hatch Brenner Solicitors team, based in the heart of Norwich on Theatre Street, took part in the Norwich Legal Walk 10km yesterday evening (Thursday 16th September) in aid of vital free legal advice charities, The Eastern Legal Support Trust and The Access to Justice Foundation.
Commencing from The Forum, Hatch Brenner joined judiciary, law firms, chambers, government departments, and in-house legal teams from around Norwich to raise funds to help improve access to justice for those most in need. The event saw 17 teams from across the city take part and walk the 10k route past many of Norwich’s most famous landmarks.
The need for free legal advice centres has grown substantially with severe cuts in funding by the Governed in recent years and with the pandemic hitting services especially hard – having reduced opportunities for fundraising.
The charities supported by the ELST help to facilitate access to justice for the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society. They provide free legal help to people facing problems such as homelessness, debt, employment, family issues, discrimination and injustice and they really need funds to support their work.
So far this year the event has raised over £4,500 for free legal advice for those unable to access or afford legal advice.
