Dental negligence claims can arise whether you received treatment via the NHS or private practice. If you have suffered from poor dental treatment which causes unnecessary pain, suffering or even serious injury, you may be entitled to claim compensation.
Proving that a dentist acted negligently requires the skill of a specialist dental negligence solicitor like those at Hatch Brenner. We have many years of experience and will work with you to help establish that the dental treatment you received directly caused your problems, enabling you to recover compensation.
How long does a dental negligence claim take?
It depends upon your case but we will help you to manage the process, ensuring you have appropriate evidence and documentation to pursue the case.
How much dental negligence compensation could I claim?
Again, it depends on your case. We have successfully won cases worth up to £30,000. Contact us for a professional assessment of your case.
Of course, we understand that a dental negligence claim is not always about getting compensation. It is also important to explore any avenues that might help you receive restorative treatment, or deal with ongoing pain or symptoms.
Examples of dental negligence claims:
- Partial or negligent tooth extraction
- Cutting gum or lip during a procedure
- Misdiagnosis or failure to diagnose a dental condition
- Badly fitted dental implants
- Root canal treatment mistakes
- Failure to identify and treat periodontitis (gum disease)
Failure to adequately fill teeth
Master B required treatment to a number of his baby teeth. Due to poor standard of care, there was a failure to adequately fill the teeth with the result abscesses developed and 5 teeth had to be removed. Fortunately, they were baby teeth and his adult teeth were unaffected but he suffered pain and distress. Partner and Medical Negligence specialist, Sara Westwood was instructed for the claim which was settled in the sum of £2,750.
Failure to properly manage and treat the teeth
Mrs C attended her dental surgery over many months complaining of problems with a number of teeth. Sadly there was a failure by the dentists to properly manage and treat the teeth with the result a number had to be removed. With Sara Westwood's help, she recovered £16,000 of which a large amount was to pay for remedial treatment.
Mrs F had implants that failed. The claim was settled at £4,500 for pain and suffering plus the expense of future treatment to rectify the problem. Chartered Legal Executive, Simon Bransby, acted on this case.
